2013 GSSCC Chamber Cup Golf Classic
Was a Sunny Success

Despite predictions to the contrary, the weather held out and actually turned pleasant for the 102 golfers participating in yesterday’s GSSCC 2013 Chamber Cup Business Golf Classic. Congratulations to the Sandy Spring Bank team of Tom Ewers, Bob Grandfield, and Art Paholski, who took top honors by a hair, with a score of 60 for the round and 28 for the back nine.  The top three teams were so close, the winners were determined not only by the regulation score on the back nine, but the score on the last six holes.  Squeaking in at second place was the Washington Adventist Hospital team of Ed Garcia, Jeff Juneau, Stephen Faehner, and Ed Palmer, also with a score of 60, but 29 on the back nine, and 17 on the final six holes.  The second Washington Adventist Hospital team of Bob Kocher, Shawn Kocher, Chris Minar, and Ron Dobransky finished third with an overall score of 60, a back nine score of 29, and a final six score of 18.  Dushanti Peiris, of another Sandy Spring Bank team, and Tim Cornell, playing with M&T Bank, took Longest Drive honors for women and men, respectively.  Maggie Whall, Fairland Animal Hospital, and Paul Beck, Washington Property Company took top honors for “Closest to the Pin.”  Tom Ewers, Sandy Spring Bank, also won the “Break the Bank” Putting Contest, sponsored by Randy McVey of Cardinal Bank and Doug Parker of M&T Bank, placing the more than 30-foot putt just 11 inches from the hole.

The Chamber extends sincere thanks to all the golfers, sponsors, door prize donors, volunteers, and golf committee members who made this event a success! For a full listing of the individuals and companies who made yesterday's tournament possible, click here.
