The Silver Spring Central Business District (CBD) is a State of Maryland Enterprise Zone, and a federally designated Empowerment Zone. This entitles qualified businesses who locate or expand their businesses in the CBD to take advantage of several incentive programs. (Montgomery County Commuter Services) This program offers matched dollars to contributing organizations for employees’ transportation to and from the workplace. Eligible means of public transit include Ride-On, Metrobus, Vanpools, Metrorail, MARC Train and others. The full amount of the combined public/private contribution is tax deductible. Economic Development – Small Business Services The department offers counseling, legal assistance, and training to small and minority businesses.
