Maryland Legislature Passes Tax Increase Package As everyone has no doubt read, the Maryland legislature passed a nearly $1.3 billion tax increase package in the early hours of this morning. The bill increased the state sales tax from 5 percent to 6 percent and made certain computer services subject to that tax; increased the corporate income tax from 7 percent to 8.25 percent; created three new tax brackets under which individuals will pay 5 percent (instead of 4.75 percent) on taxable income above $150,000 per year ($200,000 for couples), 5.25 percent for individual income over $300,000 per year ($350,000 for couples) and 5.5 percent on income above $500,000 per year. Good news -- The final bill did not include measures to increase the annual filing fee from $300 to $1,000 or to implement combined reporting for corporate tax calculation. GSSCC in Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade GSSCC once again participated in the Montgomery County Thanksgiving Parade, held this past Saturday in Silver Spring.
